The Noni plant or Morinda Citrifolia, is part of the Rubaiceae plant family. Originating from South East Asia, it extended to Polynesia, China, India, South Pacific, Tahiti, Hawaii and other tropical countries thanks to its seeds able to float in the water for months and months and be transported from one coastline to the other without putrefying.
Morinda Citrifolia is an evergreen plant, can reach the height of 4 till 6 meters: has got hard and rough branches that generates oval and dark green shining leaves. Small white flowers blossom out of grape-shaped pods that generate a fruit. A ripe fruit is similar to an irregular potato and with a lot of protuberances. Its color is white-yellowish and the peel is very thin, watery and gelatinous. The pulp of the fruit is sour and when completely ripe it produces a characteristic rancid smell because it contains carbonic acid.
